Here you can convert the Unit of length Meter into the unit Decimeter and vice versa you can convert Decimeter into Meter. By clicking the "Swap units" icon, you will always obtain the desired conversion in the calculation result, i.e., m to dm or dm to m. With the following calculator you can also calculate any other Unit of length.
Info about "Meter"
Meter is a basic unit of length in the International System of Units (SI) and other metric systems. All other units of length in the metric system are derived from the meter (e.g. 1 km = 1.000 m, 1m = 1.000 mm).
The meter was defined in 1799 based on measurements taken at the time as the ten millionth part of the distance from the North Pole to the equator. For this purpose, a so-called prototype meter was casted in platinum. Since 1983, the meter has been defined as the distance travelled by light in 1/299,792,458 seconds in a vacuum.
Info about "Decimeter"
The decimeter unit is part of a metric system and is derived from the basic unit meter. 1 decimeter is equivalent to 0.1 meters and 1 meter is equivalent to 10 decimeters. The prefix "Deci" in decimeters stands for a tenth of the base unit. The decimeter belongs to the International System of Units (SI).
